Julie Uribe

Julie Uribe is an Emmy Award-winning producer who has more than 25 years of experience in the television industry. Most recently Julie served as the SVP of Non-Scripted Development for FremantleMedia North America (the media giant that produced American Idol) where she led development, pilot production and international acquisition strategy. Prior to joining FMNA, Uribe served as a writer/producer on various programs for networks such as National Geographic, Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel. In 1999, Uribe won a Daytime Emmy Award for her work on ABC’s Better Homes and Gardens. Professional acting highlights include guest spots and recurring roles on: The Drew Carey Show, Family Matters, Step by Step, Perfect Strangers, General Hospital and Days of Our Lives. She is also an alumni member of The Groundlings Sunday Company. A native of Lincoln, Uribe received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater at UNL and was an Alumni Master in 2016.

Coming from the theatre, improv and business worlds, and having worked in the academia world for three years at UNL, Julie Uribe is uniquely qualified to develop and lead this program as the director, strategist and facilitator. Her life experiences as a professional actor, improviser, writer, producer and television executive have taken her all over the world where she has enormously benefitted from the lessons of Applied Improv personally and professionally. Always ready to learn, Uribe is passionate about the power of improv to develop emotionally intelligent, expressive, and authentic future leaders in Diversity and Inclusivity.
